Dear Tournament Director (or fellow biologist, carboned),
I wanted you to know that the 30 day public comment period is open for our tidal bass Fishery Management Plan (FMP). After the comment period and when accepted by the Department, the FMP will help guide fishery management for tidal bass populations in Maryland. The plan has been reviewed by the Sport Fish Advisory Commission and internally. I hope to get some additional public feed back from other resource users, namely you and your anglers. The comments will help revise this draft of the FMP and ultimately, guide fisheries management for bass in tidal rivers. Feel free to download the FMP from:
If you or your anglers have any comments on any section of the plan, please let me know by email. An on-line record of all comments will be posted.
Also, I figured I?d go ahead and attach our latest black bass observations on live well maintenance (see attached). We did some work with live wells and largemouth bass this past summer. The work was reviewed by the authors of ?Keeping Bass Alive,? as well. The recommendations we?ve made are in the attached *.pdf and will also be included in the 2014 Fishing Guide. Feel free to distribute to your anglers and on your websites if you find the information useful.
Take care and have a great Labor Day weekend! Joe.
