We recently held our annual Black Bass Roundtable where we discussed some important issues to black bass anglers. We discussed making license fees more fair and how to handle ?stacking up? of Largemouth Bass.
For the more detailed minutes of the meeting, please watch for our notices on Facebook, Twitter, and through E-mail (see my signature line below).
During the meeting, it was requested that we send out the MD Fishing Guide to tournament directors. I attached a low resolution version of the fishing guide to this email; the high resolution guide can be read at:
MD DNR is soliciting feedback on recreational park improvements through their land planning program. We thought that this might be a good opportunity for you guys to offer some ideas, such as improvements to Elk Neck State Park. Feel free to read more and post your comments here:
I can also post your comments if you send me an E-mail.
Potomac River Directors: Steve Chaconas, a fishing guide in Maryland, has written a recent article regarding licensing of anglers fishing the Potomac River. If you are having a tournament on the Potomac River, I highly encourage you to read the pretty short and well-written article written by Steve:
Upper Bay Directors: Finally, it was brought to my attention that some anglers have released Largemouth Bass to a small pond near Anchor Marine (in the upper Bay) rather than releasing them to the Northeast River. I need to be clear here: it is a violation of State law to release Largemouth Bass to a non-tidal body of water (such as a pond) without a permit from the State.
If you are a director of a tournament staged in North East, please remind your anglers that the Largemouth Bass belong in the river and not a shallow, storm water pond.
Have a great season and stay in touch, Joe.
