Could not have asked for a more ideal fishing weather day!!! Cool early morning temps, a little chop on the water, grassy vegetation looking oh so lovely, and the bass being very active busting the surface all around. Wish everyday was like this!

Too bad, most of the bites only produced bass in the range of 12.5" up to 14.5".

On Sunday, various anglers of SJHT made there annual trek up to the land of the Giants to catch those elusive 15" Mininum Bass. Although most of the fish that were there, would have been fine at many of our South Jesey puddles, many anglers reported how tough it was to even get a lure\bait sniff at. Either one were on them or they had to scramble just to get one keeper in the boat or they were missing them completely. To add to the already fun in the shade, we continued our side-pool but instead of fishing for snakeheads, we designated the pickeral as the species of choice. That turned out to be $85.00 and congrats to Jimbo with 1 Pickeral going 3.03lbs as the victor.

Quick synopsis:
We had 16 members and 1 guest come out to fish the Pink on sunday. There was only 1 limit caught. There were 8 out of 17 anglers that weighed in at least 1 LMB. There were 12 fish weighed in totalling 30.22lbs. This gave way to an avg. of 2.52lbs per Largemouth mouth. There was definitely an early morning bite\pattern somewhat developing as me and my guest the Great Arturro caught our first fish not even 10 into the tournament. Unfortunately it was a dink and could not be kept. Shiny spinnerbaits along with the stable Black and blue colors produced well and throughout the day. The Drop shot got some action but only produce the cookie cutter size species.

Without further adieu and the official stats, please give a big shout out to Leading 2012 AOY candidate Jay *SmellyHooker* N. . for taking 1st place and Lunker with 3 Bass going 9.67lbs. 2nd Place was won by Bill *The Hammer* L. with 2 Bass going 6.14lbs. 3rd Place was won by Kyle *WallHannger* S. with 2 Bass weighing 3.94lbs. Way to bring these fine specimen to the weight-station and battle to the end.

Note: Jay....has quietley been putting up some phenominal stats this year. It's gonna take an unbelievable last couple of tournaments to ring him in.

Thanks to all for coming out . Although the weather men called for severe downpours and sporatic thunderstorms, I believe all could attest that it was pretty nice with no threats making it to our area. All in all, many fish were caught but unfortunately, they fell a little short of the required 15" mininum. I alway have a great time when visiting these neck of the woods. I hope the rest of the members also had a decentt time on the water.

Note: The other members pics will be uploaded once forwarded from FishinTroop! Thanks again men!!!

Next tournament in 2 weeks at Salem Canal, Sat. July 28, 2012.

Congrats Jay on a awesome bag!!! Keeping the pressure on those behind you!LOL Congrats to Bill The Hammer! for hammering them down! Nice fish Bill!! and congrats to Kyle on his Keepers and taking home third. Had 5 shorts and one keeper that came unbuttoned. Black and Blue is my favorite colored jig, but for some reason I only threw it maybe 6 times. Oh well still had a fun! Fishing is always fun even if you don't have a keeper!!

I know a guy that did both Fishing3 2sad

And congrats to the people who found 15" fish. I caught between 30-35 fish with maybe 10 of those being dinks. The rest between 12 and 14.5". Aside from making a flip into the reeds and getting smacked by a 3-4 pounder. Slam back on him and crack goes my vendetta and my line as the fish jumped and flipped me the bird fu See you all at that damn canal...
