Having missed out on my clubs Rainbow Lake Tournament due to son's Basketball award banquet and Honey do list for , I wanted to fish somewhere unfamiliar. Well intending on waking up around 5:30am, I didn't roll out of bed till about 7:15amish.
After a stop at Burger King for a Bacon, egg & Chees Croussaint and some hashbrowns, I made the 35min ride down to Lake Lenape.
Not till I got half-way there, did I double check the conflict list. Well, I figured it's a pretty big body of water and if a tournament angler wanted to fish a certain shoreline, I would of course make way!!!! LOL!!!
Upon checking in with the ranger and chatting with a angler on the water, I proceeded to survey the various water depths, the SJBCA assisted new fishing trees\structures with Nojji's DSI Finder!!! LOL!! I even ventured over near the fish ladder.
Building in ruins.....
I started out throwing a Strike King Red eye Trap in a chart\Blue back\slight orange belly and didn't even get a sniff. I then broke out a LC Pointer78 in Ghost and still got no love. Next, I started drop-shotting with nibbles here and there. I then fisedh the entire shoreline left of the fish ladder and still got no love. Well, since I have not ran my 9.9hp outboard since last year, I proceeded to crank it up...but I smelled a strong scent of gasoline. The hose and bulb had somewhat dry rotted....so I didn't want to make like Michael Jackson and Beat it!! So I was left with just running my TM toward the Northern sections.
Since I was not getting any pick ups along this stretch of land, I asked myself what would KVD do?
I then found an area where the various depths, fallen trees, over hanging trees, wood, and land contour made for the perfect storm!!!
After thinking about what KVD would do, I went back to what I originally started throwing some many years ago. I went down in my stash and found some GY Double Tail Hula grubs in greenpumpkin\red Flake tipped with a 1/8oz bullet weight and went to work.
Seeing an ideal location where a bass should have been hiding, i side casted towards the shoreline\beneath a hanging branch and BAM...BAM....BAM.... BAM...BAMM
See the tree in the background... LOL!!!! I don't make this up!!!
Okay...we're on to something. 25yds up the way...this 3.5lber~4lber hits the same bait...
Now... I'm impressed with this quaint little area. I then hit another fallen tree and after my 3rd in cast into the structure, I saw the white belly of a monster flash and hit my lure and after setting the hook...wrapped me on a tree branch. Not wanting to ease up on the tension, I reel down and see that I'm left with the branch wrapped around my braided line... Yeah....I was ready!!!! LOL!!
I continue working this area area with another 3 solid 2.5~3lbs bass and then made a bee line to the ramp before the rest of the tournament anglers bum rushed me!!!
All in all, a great day on the water and I didn't even get to fish the most Northern end of this place.
I believe I have found a new home!!!! Thanks BigFred!!!

Good Job BN way to tare up Lenape. I went to Mullica Hill Pond yesterday with one of those Instant Fishing rods and on my 10th cast with a crank bait It just SNAPPED and half the rod went in the water. I lost my crankbait and half my rod So I had to wave to my Sexy Shad Crankbait. but its okay My dad picked me up took me and I got my Ultra light for the the next time I go out. I restrung the Ultra Liight last night by taking off the old 2lb test line and put new 8lb test line. Im set for a nice day now
