Thanks guys for showing those Red, White, and Blue colors!!

Today marked SJHT's 12th and Final regular club tournament of the 2010. We had 12 battled tested members and 2 guest come out to do battle on DoD Lake. With the 2010 AOY title up for grabs and less than 3 Total Points separating 1st and 2nd place, anglers were determine to get it on. Word on the street is that Bill *The Hammer* Leach brought his Luck Charm...

www.myfishingpictures.com/data/2/medium/DOD_Lake_Bill_and_Girl_on_Boat-_09-11-10.JPG

while Bass Hopper brought just himself!!! LOL!! Having originally scheduled today's tournament for Farrington Lake, we switched it to DoD lake with the Low water conditions at farrington. Met with cool air temps, lower water temps, and a high rising sunny skys, anglers launched heading to various segments of DoD lake. Some went to the furthest back areas near the Delaware River, while some fished off of points with steep drop offs. I concentrated in the shallow to Mid depths as I noted suspending fish on my depthfinder. I picked 2 keepers within the 3 hours of the T with about 3 shorts (i.e. 11.75" Bass) mixed in. The dropshot proved valuable along with a 4" pumpkin colored Kreature bait tossed up towards the shore and slowly retrieved out towards the deeper depths. The bass would gently picked the bait and swim off...almost undetected. I had other slight pick ups...but I believe they were other species. That was my day....

Without further adieu, lets give a big shout out to SJHT VP Jay *SmellyHooker* N. for taking 1st place with 3 Bass and Lunker weighing a total of 4.79lbs. Lunker went 2.50lbs! Second place was won by this year's AOY Champion Bill *The Hammer* L. with 3 Bass weighing 3.78lbs. Third place was taken by this years 2010 Rookie of AOY Champion Kyle S. with 3 Bass weighing 3.40lbs Congrats and well done gentlemen!!!

What can I say? What a heck of a year and Tale of the Final Tape!!! We've had some ups and downs this year. As predicted, the fishing in the early spring was good and on fire while the heat of the summer along with traditional fishing pressures has takens its toll. Today, there were 20 Bass weighed-in. The total weight was 22.46lbs. Thus giving an avg. of roughly 1.12lbs per bass.

Congrats to Jay on taking first place in our final reg. season tourn.! Nice lunker too!. Congrats to Bill the Hammer Leach "AOY" achievment! It was a close race, and interesting. Congrats to Kyle placing 1st in top 5. I know we have'n't seen the last of you!LOL. My day started slow, and managed only 2 keepers and 2 dinks. Keepers on jigs and dinks on shakey head. The bite was just a subtle pickup and then started swimming away with the bait. Thanks Jimbo for helping me with my boat/loading, and happy Birthday man!

Thanx Den!!! Any time...
Well here is take on a challenging day! I started the day out by throwing an assortment of baits like rattle trap, soft swimbaits, and even the BuzzJet with no takers!

Went to plan B, and picked up my first keeper on a Zoom dead ringer at around 8 o'clock! This fish was way back in the canal part of the lake. I threw the dead ringer for the next hour or so with not so much as anouther bite.

So off to plan C, Drop shot... I first worked the back section islands with mixed reviews. I lost what was definitly my biggest fish of the day, right at the boat while I was getting the net! This fish was maybe 1.5 to 2lbs! I worked the back section for about an hour - hour and a half, and caught an other 2 dinks to 11".

Time for plan D, hit the main lake and DS the flatts and drop offs! I started with the deeper water, with narry a bite. As I got up on the flatts POW It was a feeding frenze.. I caught atleast a dozen bass, but again I lost another bigger fish(not to be confused with a big fish just bigger than the ones I brought to the scale)blush
Even with the missed fish I was able to keep my head up and was confident I would fill out my bag. You know? Never give up and all... this seemed to sum up my whole season!! Head to the grindstone and 3 fish for 2 and a half pounds yup

I would also like to say Congratz Bill for taking AOY,and to everyone else on another great season with SJHT! Bring on the classic baby... woohoo
Jimbo
