What can I say? First off, welcome new SJHT Club Member Chris Palmer from Mays Landing. Thanks for the interest and venturing up to the Squan on your inaugral membership!! Good times awaits us!! Another shout-out to Jimbo for bailing me out on my late arrival. Let's just say, I'm not as young as I use to be but as my brother from another mother once said, "I use to be good back in the 80's early 90's circa". as stated "Jefferson".
Alright, Today 10 SJHT members traveled up the NJ Pike/295 to see what Big Girls could be caught. Word on the street was that bass were scattered all throughout the grass and not really relating to wood or other laydown structures. I personally caught my first fish within the 1st hour of arrival and preceeded to catch cookie cutter size 11.75" Bass!!! Other anglers who dared to fish the opposite side of the Squan reported having a late bite. Either way, the Bass were not really targeting any specific structure, as I believe most were caught out in the Deeper water.
Let's give a big Shoutout to Bill "The Hammer" Leach for winning his second victory in a row by weighing in 3 Bass weighing a total of 4.13lbs. Not to be outdone, we had a Guest member of Jimbo's, a Mr. Peter Anderson (Good friends of the Woodster) take 2nd Place and Lunker with 1 Bass weighing 3.53lbs.Third place was followed up by Dale "LippRipper" with 2 Bass weighing 2.78lbs. Nice Going fellas!!! and to our special guest today.
Here's the Squan Tale of the Tape:
Some members catches: Bill's 1st Place Catch:
Guest: Peter Anderson 2nd Place and Lunker:
3rd Place: Dales catch:
Justin's catch:
Rob's catch:
and New SJHT Member Chris Palmers catch:
As one can see, there were not that many limits brought into the weigh in. Heck out of 10 Anglers, only 14 bass were weighed in. Some anglers caught many short fish, but nothing comparable to the Jr. Bass Federation Tournament in which kids in elementary and High School were bringing in. Some were impressive bags. I'll let the 5AliveGuys (i.e. Chris Ringo and Tommy) explain that one.
This time of the year, it's pretty hard everywhere you fish (well at least in Jersey). Next week is Salem Canal and we usually have a pretty good turnout. Thanks again to those who ventured a bit farther North than they're accustom to but at least we all got tans altogether!!! LOL!!
Peace,
BN06
