Welcome to SJHT 7th event of the 2024 Season where once again SJHT anglers ventured even further South along the Upper Cheseapeak River tributaries to the Sassafras River. Can't report any Snakeheads caught but sifting through the cookie cutter size Bass up to the 15" Min. requirement seem to be what most anglers dealt with.
Please give a big congrats to 1st place & lunker winner Dennis *Jiggen Den* Den with 2 Bass going 6.04lbs. Jiggen Den's Lunker went a nice 3.85lbs 2nd Place was won by Andy *Trapper* Trapani with 2 bass going 4.06lbs. Third place was won by Bill *The Hammer* Leach with 1 Bass going 3.73lbs. Give a big Congrats to Bill who also won our MISC Pot. with a 4.19lb CATFISH.

BN06's Catty:
Summary: SASSAFRAS RIVER is very unique tributary off of the Upper Cheseapeak River. Place still holds GIANTS but on this day, the bite was a bit tough as the rain, clouds, and barometer slowly changed during the AM. Some anglers caught them early as High Tide was around 6:20am. The water was amazingly high with the Gates opened up from the Conowingo Dam in preparation for the coming rains and rain from earlier in the week. The water clarity from the previous days rain made it hard at time feeling suddle bites and pick ups. Choosing the right bait and action seem to be the key along with how the Bass was setting up with the falling tide. Anglers reported some giants lost. Broken lines and loosing them trying to set the hook. Most struggled to get 1 in the livewell no less 2. I caught 13's" and 14.0"s along with the plentiful catfishes. Out of 5 Anglers, there were only 6 Bass caught....giving way to 15.79lbs . The avg. weight was 2.63lbs. per Bass.
Overall.... No angler caught there 3 Bass Limit. 4 out of 5 anglers caught at least 1 Bass.
Congrats to Jiggen Den, Trapper, and Bill Leach on your perforrmances.
