Time: 5:30am-12:30pm
Date: Saturday, July 10, 2010
Weather: Hazy,Overcast morning Rain started at 8:30 and did not relent the entire day.
Water Temps: 82 degrees Main body of Lake, Creek Temps in the high 70's;
Water Clarity: Less 2.0'
Wind Gusts: Non-existent at the Start with sporadic gust up to 10mph.
Best Lure: Trap,DS & Seinko
Depths fished: 1.0'~4.0''
Bass Limit: 3
Let it Rain and rain it did. We had 10 SJHT swim team members show up to thumb their noses at Mother Nature and do battle with Mr. largemouth after a 3 year hiatus from Rainbow Lake. Morning was calm and fogy with no wind and glass for water. Some reported and early bite but for me it was like fishing the dead sea. By 8:30 the Sky's opened up and the bite started to pick up. Quite a few large pickerel were reported being caught with Jimbo reporting a huge snot rocket in the 28 inch range. Trapper also caught 2 catfish on a jerkbait with one of them pushing 3 pounds. By the end of the tournament everything and everybody were soaked through to the bone. For some the day was like a hot shower after a long day at work for others it was just a long day at work. Congrats to all who came out to play in the rain.
Well I'll let the pics and tale of the tape tell the rest of the story. I don't know why we have no pic of Bill who took 1st and for that I apologize.
1st Place: Bill the Hammer Leach 3 fish 5.86 pounds
2nd Place:Tboe 2 fish 5.64 pounds
3rd Place: Big Jimbo 3 fish 5.17 pounds
Lunker: Basshopper 3.24 pounds

Great reports and Pics Tboe! Way to go Jimbo in helping out!
Congrats to Bill and Tboe for taking 1st and 2nd place. I see BassHopper squeaking out Lunker! I'm just gonna start calling him the Bank! LOL1
Jimbos 3rd place finish is a nice touch!
Way to come out and fish guys! I know with weather and all...it was a little trying. I rain into torrential downpours on my way down to MB.
Now....I'm planning my Carp invasion and plotting some local lakes around my resort area. Wish me luck.

Yeah BN you missed the hot shower...
That rain really killed me. I had my limit by 7am, 2 fish on the hog and 1 on the drop! Then came the steady rain and there went my bite... I caught 2 pickrel one was a monster to 28 inches wieghing well over 4lbs...
I also smashed nearly a dozen dinks... I just couldn't find that extra 2 pounder... Nice job by Bill and Tboe, they stayed the coarse and caught some nice fish!! It did seem as my bite deminished everyone elses picked up  Go figure... The DS really picked up at the end of the tx though. I caught 6 dinks alone on my way back in!!!! Bring on the squan...

Dude I kept telling Trapper that you must be on to some fish cause you pulled up on that 1 spot and stayed there for the longest time. I was shocked to see that you blanked. I still owe you a trip as well so start thinking about when and where you want to go |
