------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to SJHT's 11th event of the 2026 season. 7 dedicated SJHT anglers came back out to fish Salem Canal on another rare Sunday Tournament due to an affilate SJBCA member club fishing on Saturday.
After a night of torrential showers and rising waters, we encountered a thich shine of Oily substance from the Old Rt. 40 Boat ramp all the way back towards Dupont. The fuel like smell was very strong and there were many dead bluegills, crappies, and even catfish floating not far from the oil slick. The fishing results also showed the irratic or not bite type of day.
Let's Go!
Please give a big congrats to Bill *Mr. Crab Boil* Leach in taking 1st place, Lunker, and MISC with 3 Bass going 3.99lbs. Bill's Lunker went 1.90lbs. His MISC SnakeHead went an impressive 4.52lbs. Second place was won by Dennis *Runner up for like the 2nd week in a row* Tolentino with 2 Bass going 3.35lbs 3rd place was won by David Snedeker with 1 bass going 1.00lbs.
SALEM CANAL TALE OF TAPE:
Bill's 1st place bag, Lunker and MISC. with 3 Bass at 3.99lbs. Lunker went 1.90lbs. MISC Snakehead went 4.52lbs
Jiggen Den's 2nd Place bag with 2 bass going 3.35lbs:
David's 3rd place bag going 1.00lbs
BN06's solo bass going .87lbs.
Fu's MISC. SnakeHead:
Summary: Can you DAMN!!! What an uneventful Tournament for most with barely any nibbles, lack of keeper size bass to weigh in, and to add the toxic smell of fuel upon arrival at the boat Ramp. Little did we know that it stretched from the old Rt. 40 ramp way back towards Dupont with a pungent odor.
Can you say almost non-existant bite all day long. Even at previously producting spots, Nada! No one Home!
Anytime Fu and Rob blank of barely get any bites, you know something with the water is definitely off kilter.
So this week, we had 7 keeper size bass weighed in. The total weight of all bass was 9.21lbs. That gave way to an avg. of 1.32lbs. 4 out of 7 anglers caught at least 1 Bass. There were a total of 1 Limits brought into the scales.
Congrats to Bill, Jiggen Den, and David on your performances.
