I was thinking about putting a stereo in my boat , would like to get some in site on speaker and unit placement. Also the thought of it in general.

What type of boat do you have? I had one in my tracker for a while, but I got rid of it. Most boats with consoles have a din opening for the radio to sit. Good marine audio equipment is expensive. For fun fishing its nice to have some tunes, but for tournement fishing, every edge helps. Sound waves travel very far under water and can spook fish. Also the extra drain on your battery could become a concern if used all day.
