I want to extend hopes that you and your anglers will have quality fishing experiences in Maryland waters in 2016. We are sending this email to directors who have requested permits from Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Fisheries Service in the past 3 years. Please share this with other directors who may not have needed permits during that time.
I have attached our 2016 preseason letter that documents some upcoming changes to permitting procedures and efforts to serve you better.
I have also attached a report of 2015 tournament activity based on results supplied by directors throughout the year. We appreciate your submission of those results as they are helping us to monitor and manage statewide fisheries.
Please consider commenting on a possible Year-Round, Catch-and-Return Area regulation that may be proposed in March 2016. Three locations in the upper Chesapeake Bay and three locations in the Potomac River are being considered for a catch-and-return regulation. This regulation was developed with stakeholder input over the past 1.5 years. I hope to receive more input from you. Please read more about this possible regulation at:
All comments will be considered when proposing this regulation.
Thank you for your continued work on organizing events that promote black bass fisheries in Maryland. If we can be of help this year, please contact me.

They are requesting no tournaments in July & August!?
I get the reason why they feel this is necessary but they start with this and then what's next? A closed season is one thing but this is a bit much in my opinion. Mainly the requesting no tournaments in July or Aug to me is bonkers.
Something fishy gone on here! This regulation is not gonna work in the honor system. I agree with Rob. Whats next sky cams checking out your boat and where you are!

I agree. Not sure how they would enforce these areas unless they had fish and Game along with the Auxillary Coast Guard cruising up and down these areas. Remember many anglers consider the term "Fishing Furnace Bay" as somewhat outside the geographical\actual location of the real "Furnace Bay".
I hope all are making there voices\opinions heard during this Open Public period. There was also talk of limiting the creel limit when hosting tournaments. With us having a 3 Bass Limit, this shouldn't impact us too much.
Stayed tuned,
BN06
