Time: 7:00am-2:00pm
Weather: Cool and slight windy 38 degrees moring start warming up to a bearable 43 Degree overall day.
Water Temps: 53.7 degrees at start heading towards Dupont and flucuating down to 50.1 heading towards the Sportsmens club.
Water Clarity: At Ramp very muddy\coco ish as was the case heading towards the NJ Turnpike\295. Pass the log jam it became a little bit more Clearer. Less than 1.0'
Wind Gust: 10-15mph; Wind made it feel much colder but was actually calm near the old Boat ramp near Rt. 40.
Best Lure: Wish I could tell you. Have No Idea
Depths fished: 2.0'~4.5'
Limit: 3

and so the 2016 season has arrived or has it?
and a Big Shout out to Gary for the heart felt morning prayer before we took off as we all needed it.
and so we were off and running to our spots.
Welcome to the 2016 SJHT Bass Club Season. To our new Rookies Matt R., John P., and Dave. S. welcome to the family and feel free to blog amongst the group. To our returning members, welcome back and let's make this season even better.
Not a bad turnout at all.....
Thanks to all 20 out of 22 members who came out today.
Without further adieu, please give a big shout out to Jackson "Not Janet" Fu for taking 1st place with the only limit of 3 Bass weighing 5.04lbs. 2nd Place & Lunker was won by Dan "Not Damn Daniel" Fitzpatrick with 1 Bass weighing 2.28lbs. 3rd Place was won by Rob "I'm not going No Where" Masterson with 1 Bass weighing 1.60lbs. Congrats men. Way to work hard for those fish and start the 2016 season off on the scoreboard. Lord knows it's better than skunking.

Summary: Salem Canal once again whip our arse. Both Internally and externally. Between the predicted snow scenario for Sunday and colder water temps just from 1 week ago, the fish, one would have thought would have been on fire. This was not the case judging from the[b] Tale of the Tape. Anglers reported earlier bites when the sun was trying to peek through, however it was quickly dominated by the Overcast skies and the pending rain showers.
There were a total of 6 Bass weighed in totalling a whopping 10.12lbs. That gave way to a 1.69lb avg. catch. There were 1 Limit caught. Action Jackson caught 3 beautiful decent Keepers but also culled another 3 more bass. 4 out of 20 anglers caught at least 1 Bass.
All in All, the weather and cold front definitely played a role in the low catch results. The water temps and colder air definitely did not turn these bass on.

Next up is Menatico SP next Saturday.

Great to be back. I had mine at 8am so thought it would be a good day. I had 4 other fish pick up my bait and swim but I couldn't hook them. I think they were small and not bass.

I hooked into three 6lb fish before 10am, they wrapped me up in the bloody branches and then broke me off....true story...terrible day |
