Anybody on pro staff for a battery manufacturer? I need to replace my piece of crap optimas. Looked at the deka agm's. They don't make a cranking agm and the deep cycle agms are $285 each. |

I have Deka Dominator Marine batteries for my trolling motor. 780 MCA and 550 CCA They are over 3 yrs old and still going strong, but they were $250.00 each. I have a Sea Volt cranking battery 650 MCA that I got from West Marine Not sure what I paid for that maybe $100.00 or so. I thought Optima Batteries were good grade?? The Deka batteries are like 60 lbs each!!! Good Luck

Those are the ones I looked at Den. The price has gone up, atleast from what I am finding. Have you had any issues? My optimas have left me stranded twice on Manasquan and once at Union, granted it was probably gale force winds on Union that day. |

No issues so far thank God. and like I said they are 3yrsold plus. I actually got them through my mechanic that deals with the auto parts co that they get there parts from, probably how I saved a few bucks.

I buy pep boys or walmart batteries also. I figure spend $100 a battery to last 3 years or $250 for an agm that will last 5-6 years maybe. |

Yeah, I'm leaning this way also. I bought the batteries and a new minnkota digital charger 3 years ago. I just don't feel comfortable with these batteries getting through the year. It seems like the charger is working correctly. I check the batteries with a meter after I unplug the charger and they read full. Maybe I'm expecting too much from the batteries. I think I should be able to get like 4 or 5 runs at 20 to 25 minutes on high, plus fishing for 8 hours. |
