Folks at home...Folks at home. Welcome back to SJHT 7th Club Tournament of the season.
One couldn't ask for better conditions weather wise as we were greeted with Foggy conditions at start and practically no wind. At least up in the Northeast River area.
Anglers were pumped having the Marina and the parking lot to ourselves. No rushing to launch and lining up for livewell checks. The new or parking envelope slot (with No Attendant) was a little different but all in all, things went off without a hitch.
Wish I Could say the bite was on fire but that would not be truthful. LOL!!! Many anglers had a tough time just getting a bite. Are the Bass still Spawning? or somewhat in a Pre-Spawn mode? Not really sure.
Anyway without further adieu, please give a big shoutout to 2nd week in a row winner, Rob *Ram1212* M. for taking 1st place with 3 Bass going 8.77lbs. 2nd Place and Lunker was won by Layne *Give me those Shoes* E. with 2 Bass weighing 7.16lbs with his Lunker going a nice 4.04lbs. 3rd Place was won by Dennis *Jiggen Den* T. with 2 Bass going 5.95lbs. Congrats to these men as they were able to bring some Bass to the scales.
Robs 3 Bass Limit and 1st place Bag:
Layne's 2nd Place bag and Lunker:
Jiggen Den's 3rd Place Bag:
Northeast River, MD Tale of Tape:
Other Angler's catch's and weigh in area:
Brian *SubFish* M. Bag of Bass:
BN06's Striper catch and dinks caught up near the Susqhana:
This guy shows up for the weigh in and proceeds to fish the little drainage area in back of the parking area of Anchor Marine and pulls this 2.25lber out!!!! Are you Kidding Me?
Nice Going Dan!!!!
BTW... For those place Bass in this drainage runoff area, PLEASE STOP! As it's very shallow back there, no real water flow, and the bass Have no other way of getting back out to the main river. Take the walk and put the Bass back in the Main Body Water!
So in an attempt to test out our new way of safe keeping the bass by placing in a larger livewell Tub and then releasing back in the water\Release point out past the No Wake Zone, we initiated this little thing.
The hope or intent is as we prepare for possible changes to the Maryland DNR Fish catching regulations and possible Release points, this will put us ahead of the game while also trying to protect the fishery. It was nice not having to run the Bass back down to the ramp, however once all the bass were release via backing my boat back down into the water, it was somewhat a pain in the arse tilting the Blue water filled livewell over the back of boat into the water. I'm still tweeking things. Stay tuned.
Summary: We had a total of [b]12 members come out on Thursday. 5 out of the 12 caught at least 1 Bass. There was only 1 Limit weighed in. 10 Bass were caught in total giving way to 29.24lbs. That gave an avg. of 2.92lbs per bass. The Striper bite was on fire. Unfortunately, the other Largemouth and Smallmouth bite was a bit tougher. Word on the street was that Rob had his limit by 9:30am. Layne had to work a little harder for that Lunker coming later in the day. For me, I was getting bit but they were of the sub 10" size. Nothing over 12" and definitely nothing near the 15" minum. The Northeast River, MD can be humbling. Even when just like 2 weeks ago it was on fire. Still fun to be out on the water and with my fellow anglers.
Bonus shot up near the Susky!!!
Thanks to all for coming out.
Next up is the SASSAFRAS RIVERIVER in 3 weeks.
Tightlines,
