Next Monday is Memorial Day, a time to honor our fellow American service members who have sacrificed their lives in support of our Nation. Please take a moment in remembering and honoring those that have made this ultimate sacrifice. Also, keep in your thoughts or prayers those service members and civilians who are currently deployed and remain in harm's way.
Memorial Day also marks the start of the summer season, with more time spent on outdoor activities, driving and vacation travel. As such, there is an increased risk for accidents and injuries. While I encourage everyone to relax and enjoy the long weekend, please do so with safety in mind.
If you are traveling, plan your trip accordingly with appropriate rest stops. Watch your speed and wear your safety belts. Do not drink and drive. For those participating in beach and water activities, ensure you are using the appropriate water safety devices and know your limitations as a swimmer.
Thank you and I wish you and your family a safe Memorial Day weekend.
