Since most of us would already have the seasonal PRFC license and since we have never scheduled this place to fish in the past, I thought it would be different to entertain a possible visit.
Either way, as an Off Season Bass location for us Jersey\Pennsy anglers, I think it deserves our attention. Whether one stays in the Sassafras or decides to make a run, I think we can discuss those options or restricted areas.
As I look at the map, it looks very enticing.
Just some food for thought.

I would be interested However I will go on record now. If the tournament is going to be on the Sassafras River, then that's where we fish. I mean why call it the Sassafras tournament, drive to Duffy's Creek, and then everyone run to the flats. Might as well call it a flats tournament and launch out of Anchor or the North East and save the extra driving. Just my $.02

I heard theres a ton of laydowns in that river and you can literally stay there flipping all day and catch fish, never been there yet though |

I'm in but don't limit any area if people want to make the run then so be it. It's nothing different when we launch out of anchor and I make the run to the sassafras |

So if we can run out the Sassafras, is the Anchor release area off limits? |

These are the types of comments/suggestions I want to see.
Whether one is for or against staying primarily in the Sassafras area or considering making the run, its everyone input and my objective for even considering launching and fishing out of this area.
Bob..raises a good point....about being able to fish up towards the NorthEast River/furnace bay area. If that was the case, then why drive further and launch out of The Sassafras? I understand that view point and I get it totally.
So maybe as a foot note, we should discuss/state, that fishing outside of the Sassafras is Off-limits.
In my opinion, the Sassafras is big enough to fish various creeks and coves adequately. Besides, one can focus there learning curve on a relatively new body of water vs. Doing the typical norm. That is running to a place where we in fact would be roughly 10 days later.
My thoughts only but keep the comments coming.
Note: With this time of year (early May), even our members with smaller boats could navigate safely this body of water.
Thanks

all tournaments have off limits...usually game creek is off limits at the canal...even the pro tournaments have off limits. I'm sure some of you bassnj members remember the whole Delaware River tournament through one of the circuits had guys run the Delaware to the DnR into the flats caused a big stir. Now they specify the limits |

The Sass is part of the North East area, its all the same, why dont we do that Conowingo damn part like one of the lakes where the Bass Bowl voting was last year? |

Note: I have included both launching ramps. Points#1 Through Point#5 are for the Paid Ramp.
Points#6 Through Points#9 are for the Free County Ramp.
Once on the water, it seems to be a little distance from both launching areas. You guys are going to have to decide what's ideal for the number of anglers planning on attending and where the weigh in process is going to happen. I spoke with Duffy's Marina Care taker and gave her my POC information. I gave her a rough estimate of 10-12 boats.
