Wow! Where has the 2009 Season gone? Having completed its last regular club season tournament of the year, 13 SJHT anglers ventured down to WaterWorks Lake to find that elusive South Jersey Keeper Bass!!! WaterWorks like most other South Jersey ponds...did not dissappoint. Yeah Right!!!
While others were fishing down on the Open Canal tournament, we thought since its October...the fall bite would be on! Well...lets just say it was a dinkfest blitz today. Enough of the rambling!
A big congratulations goes out to 1st place winner Bill *The Hammer* Leach for developing a crankbait pattern to weigh in 3 Bass going 3.18lbs. Second Place was won by this years SJHT 2009 AOY Brian *Bass Hopper* Suthard with 3 bass going 2.85lbs. Third place and Lunker Winner was taken home by Dale *The LipRipper* with his first Keeper Bass of the SEASON with 2 Bass weighing 2.11lbs and Lunker weighing 1.40lbs!!! I guess it's better late than never!!! Congratulations gentlemen....especially Dale for saving his best for last. Good Job!!!

Waking to a very thick fog, and mist on the water, anglers were chomping at the bit of throwing a Buzzbait...including myself. Well, after getting little hits\taps on the DS, the buzzbait was abandon quite early. Anglers reported catching numerous cookie cutter size 6"~11.75" bass. This was the same result in 2008. It's almost like all of the Bigger size bass are gone or have been harvested by someone...Well...after realizing that a small limit may be the key to winning this tournament, anglers concentrated on casting lures that covered the various water columns. Casting to shore, wood structures, and lay downs did produce early on, but most anglers found themselves playing center field out in the middle. The mighty crankbait in the right color did the trick for todays winner. Another year in the books and the Classic showdown in less than a week!!!
Here's to a great 2009 Regular Season!!!!
Now....lets get ready for our 2009 SJHT 2-Day Bass Classic where a Surprise in addition to the $$$ will be bestowed upon this years CHAMPION!!
