You know it's a good sign when Mothra comes and visits all the way from Japan.....
Or was this an omen for what was to come after our tournament. (See end of report and pics)
Me and fellow anglers had a good chuckle upon her visit.
Maskells Mills for me is alway a delight to fish.....
even though the ramp and launching\loading of boat can be a pain in the arse.... Its still attracts anglers from all over.
Having started about 15minutes late due to safe light and some technical issues, anglers were geared up and ready to due battle with Miss Mills. After everyone positioned themselves to either fish the Northern section ( pass the vehicle overpass) or the southern section (main body and towards the dam), I followed Jackson!!! LOL!! Starting off throwing a Strike King Rattle-Trap, I got no luv!!! I then said to myself, "What would Tboe throw"? Oooh La La...
I was rewarded with this specimen after about 15mins in and game was on. As the 4-5 boats (including me) jockey to fish the laydowns and dropoffs canvassing both sides, the bass were definitely very active. Only problem they were in the 11.5"~11.75" size range. Bass were relating close to the shoreline and a bit out from the cover where there was some clear water. My bass came from areas such as these.
Not all...but surpriselying I worked my smallie beaver almost like a frog just skimming the surface and the bass would explode from beneath. Pretty cool to see and bring in the boat.
As the morning wore on and the air and water temps increased, the bass activity somewhat decrease but the word on the street was the southern side was like the dead sea. Alright..enough of my chit!!!
Once again SJHT had another fantastic club turnout. Today, SJHT had 16 members come out to play. Another outstanding turnout even with the ramp conditions and the tight on the road parking.
There were a total of 22 bass caught weighing a total of 25.98lbs . 4 members caught there limit of 3 Bass. 9 out of 16 anglers caught at least 1 bass. This gave way to avg. weight of 1.18lbs. Lunker Fish was noted and won for the 3rd consecutive week by Rob *Ram1212* M. with a weight of 2.55lbs.
Let's give a big congrats to veteran SJHT member and numerous IronMan ChampRob *Ram1212* M. . for taking 1st place with 2 Bass 3.70lbs. Rob's Lunker went 2.55lbs. 2nd Place was won by the Wayne *Moe* N. Sr. with 3 Bass going 3.64lbs. 3rd Place was won by Bill *FishinTroop* C. with 2 Bass weighing 3.60lbs.
Congrats Men!!! Very interesting on how and where you you caught your bass as it related to both Northern and Southern Sections of Maskells Mill Pond.

Sunday was another awesome day to be back out on the water from like 3 weeks ago. Anglers reported many dinks caught on the Norther section whereas alot of anglers reported barely any bites on the Southern most section of Maskells Mills. There were reports of water temps in the lower 70's as one pass the dam area and headed around the bend.
Thanks again to all of the SJHT members for coming out today. See ya all next week at Cooper River Park where a New 2013 Tag Team Champ maybe crowned.
Back to Mothra showing up 1st thing in the morning....Well as luck would have it, upon leaving Maskells Mill out the rear section of that road and heading back towards Pecks corner....This is what I just missed. Glad no one was too hurt and none of SJHT anglers were apart of this mess.
Note: Small story to follow on what...
Drivers crabbing rig off the trailer and into corn fields...
Drivers vehicle and trailer in opposite of road corn field...
Now.. this is where it's gets real interesting....after looking for the *Other* vehicle that T-Bone this vehicle, this is where the 70's-80's something ish women were found.
Car...from my vantage point was totaled and fortunately the 2 Sr. ladies were okay but a bit shookin up.
Now..for those familiar or who have traveled in this area, there is a Stop sign for those traveling on Jericho Road and where it meets Harmersville Pecks Corner Road. Apparently, the Senior Citizens just blew through the stop sign without breaking a bit an T-Bone the guys boat and trailer. It's a miracle no one was killed, because a minute or two earlier, my guys use this route to get to and from home. I arrived on the scene rigjht afterwards and proceeded to make sure everyone was okay. I didn't or couldn't initially see the women bacause they were another 60yards into the corn stalk fields. The guy towing the boat was okay but any vehicle coming the opposite way of him could have been seriously hurt or killed.
Guys and Gals... be mindful of those 2-WAY OR 4-WAY stops signs. I'm just glad no one was seriously hurt. The 2 elderly women were transported to the hosiptal as they were still stunned and dazed in there vechicle when EMS arrived.
Mothra showing up in the AM...was a sign.... Beware my friends...
Next Up: Cooper River Park club event Sun. August 11th, 2013.

Congrats to Rob and Moe. I was watching Moe and Al load the boat for a while there. Even heard Al cull one out. I started off pretty quick. Except it was a pickeral bite. Had my first keeper deep in a maze of brush and stickes on a keitech swimbait. Then continued to play with pickeral and perch. Got my last keeper around 12 on a boog bug, again deep in a maze of brush and limbs. Funny thing is this same pattern was producing the pickeral too. Oh well I was keeping busy just with the wrong species.
Nice job Moe and Troop on a small day. Got my two keepers and maybe ten shorts on a beaver on the North side. Al and Moe had just come under the bridge so maybe it was following them.
A big thanks to BN for the tow and Bill for the strap in the AM and everyone else who helped get me out. I am making a guarantee it will not happen again next year, I got the ramp figured out now. All though last year I got stuck and won lunker and this year the same. I might get stuck again just so I don't mess with the fish Gods of Maskell.

Congrats rob and troop showing some nice catches again. Glad no one was killed in that car crash, that story BN reminded me of a scary day at the canal a few years ago with tboe ...I was clipped by an 18 wheeler trying to turn into the old salem canal ramp...when i think back on that moment to this day im lucky to be alive.
