Yippy Ay Ye everyone!!!!! Well..it's that time of year again when members of SJHT kicked off there 1st 2009 Bass Tournament of the season by visiting a previously unchartered body of water. Yes..that would be FishDevils DMP Baby!!!
To give the new comers a little flavor of how we get down in the South, I had to take a quick snapshot of our one and only resident tricked out boat with heating supply provided.
Remember it was a fricking cold 24 Degrees at launch with even my fingers tingling...(and I was not even fishing) :o
Okay...enough of SJHT Keith and his heater!!!
First off I would like to welcome all previous 2008 members back and 3 new rookies, Tim, Layne, and Bryon. Today, SJHT had 20 members & 1 Guest come out to do battle at DMP.
Since I'm somewhat reporting as if I actually fished, word on the street is the bite was very tough. Anglers that tried to work the shallows soon found themselves doing the 2 step Shuffle towards...you guessed... The middle sections of the lake. Members through Jerkbait, rattle traps, Minus-1, and yes even the occassional jig, but what took the prize was a Big Bird Deep diving crankbait that was used in the last hour of the tournament. The angler thought he was snagged but actually had a 4.15lber on the other end.
Without further Adieu, A Big Congratulations goes out to 2nd year member Hal "The Punisher" B. for taking 1st place and Lunker with 1 Bass going 4.15lbs. There was 2 way tie for 2nd place. A Big congrats goes out to 2008 AOY runner-up Wayne "Moe" Sr. and 2009 rookie newcomer Layne "Basser995" for both bringing 1 Bass going 3.15lbs to the scales. Honerable mention and 3rd place was taken by Brian "BassHopper" S. with 1 Bass going 1.98lbs.

Heres the Tale of the Tape:
So as one can see, there was only 5 Bass brought to the scales today. Totally believe this overnight cold weather played a factor in the limited amount of bites. Anglers gave it there all....even in Hal's case...down to the last hour.
Bonus Pics of Parking and Ramp area:
Note: Stay Tuned!!!! Pics of the actual bass caught will be uploaded once my trusty Jimbo forwards them to me. :->
Next week, we'll be at Wilson Lake and hopefully the warmer air temps will cooperate.
Heading to the airport....Peace Out.... West Side!!!
