Making our first return trip after almost 6yrs under Hook One, South Jersey Hook This ventured out of state for its first out of two next tournaments. On Saturday, we had 12 members come out to fish. There were 11 LMB Caught giving a total weight of 23.48lbs which gives an average of 2.13lbs per bass.
6 out of 12 anglers caught at least 1 Bass. There were no Limits caught. 5 Anglers caught at least 2 Bass.

Big shout outs to all that did come out on a decent day of fishing and learn a new body of water. Especially to one of our Iron Men Rob *Ram1212* traveling all the way from the Jackson\Stone Tavern area and Jiggen Den coming from the PA side of the world. Your attendance and willingness to mix it up does get noticed!!! clap

Alright....lets get this party started!!!! Lums Pond located down in Bear, DE is an interesting body of water. The bass were active, the water depths made for good detective work in figuring them out and whether they were in or out from shore, the different grass found made snags and actual small nibbles somewhat fun. Anglers reported catching various size short Bass.

Case in point: Myself

after picking throught the smaller bass and adjusting my DS weight(s), I really began to feel the suddle pick-ups and slight runs the bass were making. When the wind picked up a bit, I noticed the activity on the finder picked up a bit. Boat positioning, not spooking the target, and working out to in proved to be key for me in the deeper sections of the pond.

Without further adieu, lets give a Big Congratulations to 2nd year member Dan *Crappie Jon* F. for taking 1st place and Lunker with 2 Bass weighing 4.58lbs which included a .50lb dead fish penalty. His Lunker weighed 3.86lbs by itself. 2nd Place went to fellow member Jimbo M. with 2 bass weighing 4.48lbs. 3rd Place went to John *GoneFishin* G. with 2 bass weighing 4.26lbs. Way to figure them out men!!!

You know a body of water has a decent reputation when you see so many out of state plates on vehicles and everyone has paid there $6 Park Boat Launch Fee.

Word on the street is that many anglers were getting little nibbles here and there (more than likely crappie and Gills on there beds). Anglers caught there bass in various parts of the Pond. Everyone did agree that certain colors and depths fished were the key. Many Bigger fish were lost in the wood or boat side. The varied water temps and surface debris made finding the right spots crucial.

I believe for what it's worth, most didn't mind the added distance and expenses. Our next Club tournament will be down on the NE Flats out of Anchor Marine on Sunday, May 20, 2012 or we may want to switch it to this little Lake X

Fishing3Billylee & Lone female had a wonderful time, even though we didn't bring a BIG BASS to the weight-ins. The beautiful day made up for it especially since last tornaments where freezing..... Congrad to all who brought in the BASS...Leach Team..

Congrats to Dan on first and lunker and Jimbo on 2nd !!Yes it was a nice day!!! Although I didn't have anything to compare it to like those who braved the Squan!!! My day started out throwing a trap for atleast 1/2 hour but no takers. Then I started getting closer to the bank and saw all these submerged stumps laydowns brush piles and said there should be someone bedding there. But I didn't have one picfkup! I started thowing a jerkbait and had my first keeper on but it came unbuttoned. Caught 4 more shorts after venturing around. Then hooked up with my only fish 3.38 on a creature bait. Nice place, just wish the banks had more depth/water, and less green slime!
Graat time regardless!! We will have to make the rules more clearly stated, and may change some of the wording in regards to dead fish being weighted in and so forth. I will discuss with BN and keep everyone posted as to the changes we make.

Congrats to the winners and fish catchers!

All I can say is, I want a rematch.

Thanks guys, so glad the first win is out of the way its been killing me for a while. I caught my lunker early in the day as many of you may have heard the ruckus Shock off some of the stumps to the left of the ramp. (Jacksons still mad at me for texting him the pic at 7:15 hi ) Got my 2nd keeper a little bit later off the paddleboat docks. After that it was the game of shorts trying despretely to get a limit. The shorts were coming in the boat on worms, jigs, and creatures, but nothing over 12" (or under 11" for that matter -.- ). Around 1 after watching John G go through an event that we shall not speak of, i caught my 3rd fish that ended up hurting me rather that helping me being short and dying. I have no idea what went on in my livewell i did nothing different from every other tournament i have fished. The only time ive ever had another fish die was last year at stewarts when i had one that mega swallowed the hook. The only thing i can think is that my big fish was sucking up all the oxygen. Before that a high 2 was as big as ive had in there. (though ive had a 5 fish limit in there no problem). Im feeling an upgrade coming during the offseason. My 2 fish total was 5.42 but with the weight of the 3rd fish being subtracted i was lucky enough to still squeak by for the win with 4.58.

Dan,
You definitely caught some quality fish. clap

Too bad one was deceased upon the weigh-in. Regarding your livewell, every angler should make it there habit to have onhand some "Keep Alive" or some some Bass Saver application to which to add there livewells...to reduce the stress and increase the comfort of there bass.

As the weather warms up, and we're running and gunning during the hot summer months, the last thing we need is a fish kill which could have been adverted if we just took the simple precautions. Havinig an extra\back-up aerator should be a must especially if one is unsure what the problem may be in there livewell.

With that said, Congrats once again! It's always nice fishing a new body of water and figuring them out before or ahead of anyone else.

Rob....I agree. A Re-match should be on the table!!! thumbup

Another thing....We're now at a point and actually we've been there for quite some time, but if a boater\rider needs to jump on another members vessels for a local or distant tournament, all should be able to pick up the phone, text, email, or get in contact with another member and see if they're actually fishing that weekends tournament. My rear seat is typically open for anyone\anytime. Remember, we only get out of what we put in this sport. That goes for open dialogue and taking the initiative.
