----------------------------------------------------- Anglers preparing to launch....
Good day members and SJHT guests. On Sunday, March 25, 2012 SJHT took the show on the road to Lake Lenape down in Mays Landing, NJ. Before I begin, I would like to welcome our Newest Club Member Jim *Murphy" T. all the way from the Dayton, NJ area to his first official Bass Tournament. Murphy...as I would call him (i.e. Screen Name) met at the recently held NJ Fisheries Forum held up at Batsto Village. Upon chatting and communicating about following my club reports, the gang up on Bassnj.com, and just the phenomenal Big Bass being caught as of late, he decided to take the jump and the rest is History. Welcome aboard Murphy!

Once again SJHT anglers came out to battle not only the cool elements of Lake Lenape but also the mighty pickeral and stump fields. Sunday was the day to bust out my new whip and she did not dissapoint. I had fellow club member Dale "Lipripper" as my rider and cranking up my new to me Nitro "640 LX" was a blast. Definitely gonna have some fun with this new toy!!! Anyway...back to our day on the lake.
Having only fished Lenape maybe 2 other times, I was determined to become more acclimated to higher levels of water and various structures up against the shorelines and out away from typical points and bends. I started out throwing a finesse size slider worm in a color I must go back to BlackWater Sports Center and pick up!! I was getting hits on it almost non-stop. I would give up the color but this was my first time throwing it and I can know it when I see it again in person. Sorry! I caught my 1st bass at 9:34am going a tad over 3lbs. I was like yeah..way to christine the boat. I then caught a stout pickeral going about 2lbs. Both on the same lure. My rider was getting hits but trying to match up the color and fall rate seem to be a little problem. As we're working the Left Northern shoreline and timber, I'm repeatedly getting that Tap..Tap. snug. I proceeded to catch a Nice fat Crappie, Perch, and loss another good solid 2.25lber! Meantime, I hearing and seeing others in the distance put bass in the livewels. Many anglers reported that ripping traps through the semi-grassy areas was the key. Others reported suttle bites that were undetected as they bounce jigs and worms off of wood. I wish I could have caught more but just being out in my new whip was more than enough.
Alright, without further adieu, lets give a big shout out and congrats to 1/2 of the 2011 SJHT Lake Lenape Buddy Champion Kyle *WallHanger* S. for taking 1st place with 3 Bass going 5.63lbs. Second place was won by returning SJHT member Chris P. with 3 Bass weighing 5.13lbs. Third place was won by our New 2012 Tournament Director Dennis *Jiggen Den* T. with 2 Bass weighing 4.88lbs. The Bass Lunker pool was won by Layne going 3.26lbs. The side Pickeral Pool was won by our very own Andrew *Bates* going 3.26lbs.

So as one can see, the tale of the tape shows that 3 Limits of 3 bass per angler were caught. Most of the fish were very chunky and looked as though they had been feeding. I didn't neccessarily mark any bait fish, but my Rear GPS\Sonar was lit up on the bottom with various sizes of fish. Go Figure! One can never say how the fishing at Lenape will be. Ironically later in the day, I got a PM from another angler that what looked to be about a 4.5lber was caught after we had left near the lighthouse side. WTF!!! I guess that's why the fishing can be so good during the different times of the day.
Thanks again to Layne's guest members Mark for coming out on Sunday. It was my pleasure having you fish with us. Hopefully you'll come back again.
See you all next week for our 3rd Club tournamnet at Manasquan Res. next Saturday!

Congrats again to Kyle and Chris!!! Way to go guys. Welcome to the club Murphy, nice boat! Glad to see everyone had a good time. It's really what it's all about, winning is nice and everyone wants to win, but just being out there fishing with a bunch of your friends is the ticket! Congrats to Bates on that Pickeral! Hope to see everyone at the Squan! Don't forget anyone with a gas engine must either remove the prop or remove your gas tank from the boat. Also have with you your boat registration and your PFD (life jacket) which must be worn at all times, yes even while you are fishing!!! I believe there is a $5.00 fee, but correct me if I'am wrong. BN would have already gotten the Permit.
Congrats again to Kyle, Chirs P, Den, and all who caught fish. Dens right, it all about having a good time even if you skunk. I had a great time watching my side imaging and down imaging all day, even though i didnt see any fish.

Yes..Although Monmouth County Parks and Recreation is aware...there is a $5.00 per boat launch fee paid directly to the Squan Ranger upon bringing your documents inside. Remember...the Key word is: we're just fun fishing. If for some reason we had over I believe 24 boats, that would incurr a $600.00 deposit which we Definitely do not\will not pay.
As Jiggen Den stated, Life Jackets must be worn All the time while on the water. The Ranger will come out and warn if he sees you through his binoculars from land.
Word on the street is that that Big Girls are biting and ready to be caught.
Enjoyed meeting all the club members. Congrats to the winners! It's great to be part of the group. Looking forward to seeing everyone at manasquan. Should be fun.
