Good of the Association:
Information given on Invasive Surface Plant called "Parrot Feather" which has been found in the Nanticoke River and it's potential impact on local fisheries if it somewhows finds it way into NJ local fisheries. Here's a link to get further information.
http://www.ecy.wa...ua003.html

Cliff Note: "it can seriously change the physical and chemical characteristics of lakes and streams. Infestations can alter aquatic ecosystems by shading out the algae in the water column that serve as the basis of the aquatic food web. In addition, the plant provides choice mosquito larvae habitat. In California, the species is becoming an increasing problem in irrigation and drainage canals. A 1985 survey of irrigation, mosquito abatement, flood control, and reclamation agencies in California indicated that parrotfeather infested nearly 600 miles of waterways and over 500 surface acres. In Washington, the Longview Diking District estimates that it spends $50,000 a year on parrotfeather control in drainage ditches. Dense infestations in southern Africa have caused flooding and drainage problems in shallow rivers and streams. The plant can also restrict recreational opportunities in these bodies of water."
------------------------------------------------------

Next Meeting:
* 8pm, Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the 4th Ward Clubhouse near Parvins State Park. Some of the items on the agenda will be:
* Form tournament committee for the June Buddy T.
* Form by-Law committee (if necessary)
* Review Fishermen's Flea Market

So in summary and important dates to remember:
* Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 T&T event held at Blackwater Sports. 10am-2pm
* Sat. Feb. 27, 2010 NJDFWG hosting NJ Fisheries seminar 10am-12pm at Batsto Village at Wharton State Park
* Sat. March 6, 2010 SJBCA Fishermen's Flea Market Elks Lodge, Millville, NJ 8:30am-2pm

* Wednsday, Feb. 24, 2010 SJHT 1st meeting 2010 Voorhees Fire Hall. aprrox. 7:45pm- 9:15pm

and lastly but not least...... for those that mainly Kayak but like to bass fish....there's a possible New club out there. From what I got from the meeting, they would immediately catch, measure length, take a pic, and then release.

That's it for now!!!

See you most of you next week at the 2010 kickoff meeting!!

Tightlines,
BN06
