-----------------------------------------------------
Well...with Hurricane Irene causing Mass hysteria and people bombarding all of the local grocery stores, I visited Bobby Chez Seafood on Friday and low and behold this GrassHopper needed a ride due to the fights at Atlantic City GreyHound Bus station...with casino patrons trying to make it there way back to Philly.
BN loves the GrassHoppers!!! LOL!! Oh where was I? Assunpink Lake. With most of the weathermen and major news station warning of the impact and dangers of Hurricane Irene, i made the call to fish Assunpink and play the day by ear. Well, we could not ask for a better Pre-Hurricane conditions to fish in. Yes it was muggy, but there was a slight breeze, overcast, and the bass were in a feeding mood! Problem was the 15" Min. one had to bring to the scales. I was getting bit every other cast. Dropping shotting...running my rattletrap through the grassy areas, and even flipping a jig here and there.
See.....
For those that were concerned about the weather, it really was not a factor till actually the Tournament was over. Just as we neared the boat ramp, that's when we got our first taste of rain and consistent rain. Oh well!!!
Alright enough of me rambling. Today, SJHT had 9 Club members and 1 Guest come out to play at the Pink.
There were 9 bass caught....giving a total weight of 18.61lbs. That gave an avg. of 2.07lbs per bass. [/b]
Without further adieu, please give a big congratulations to Chris *5BigGirls* D.
for weighing in 3 Bass weighing 6.50lbs. . Second place goes to current AOY Points leader Brian *Bass Hopper* S. for weighing in 2 Bass going 4.51lbs. and Lunker 3.04lbs. Third Place went to Rookie member Kerry *Big856K* S. for weighing in 2 Bass going 4.12lbs.
Chris *5BigGirls* D. 1st Place win:
Brian *Bass Hopper* S. 2nd Place win:
Kerry *Big856K* S. 3rd Place:

Members mulling around as we get rained on finally!!! LOL
Hitting the bumpy Assunpink Road in a heavy downpour!!!
Thanks again to all SJHT members and to our 1 guest for venturing out to Assunpink Lake today. We definitely caught some Pink love as the weather could have really done us in. I'm glad and fortunate to be amongst men willing to step a little outside the box.
See you in 2 weeks for our Season Finale at MIRROR LAKE

Congrats to the ones who found >15" fish. I probably caught 20 fish today up to 14.5", but it wasall about the one that got away. Fishing a worm down by the damn around 7:30 i get smoked by something. huge head shake and peeling drag. Of course this is on a spinning rod with 8lb line. so i carefully fight this fish almost to the boat when i see him. 4lbs+ im saying, bucket mouth and a big gut. While he is back down and not pulling hard i keep the tension and reach for the net that of course was somehow in the back of the boat. As i do this he changes his mind and comes 90 degrees straight up 3 feet out of the water. back into he water headshake...gone. guess you cant catch em all ive barely lost a fish all season. |

Crappie,
I had the same thing happen to me too. Up towards the right of the boat ramp, in about 5'~6' of water, I'm DS'ing with one of the color worms pictured in the report and next thing I know, my reel is screeching with the line going out. I'm playing the fish to the boat and as I'm about to reach down to lip her, my entire 10lb line test broke!!!
I could have screamed!!! I caught numerous 13.5" up to 14.25" Bass, but could not get the bigger ones!! Definitely a day to remember and so glad we ventured out before the bad stuff hit. Chris D. and Brian really figured them out.... Way to go guys!!!

Whoah!!! Sorry to hear that Rob!!!! Like you need another black cloud over your head. I hope the power comes back on soon. No water or huge tree limbs\twigs at my crib. Luck out pretty good.
