Good morning gents,
Hope the mild earthquake and pending Hurricane Irene has not rattled you. 
As we approach Saturdays tournament, we are still a "GO"!! I know it's a fluid prediction, but the bad stuff is suppose to hold off till after our tournament is well done and over. As with any type storm and weather conditions, our saftey and well being is of utmost importance.
We're suppose to fish from 6am till 2pm. Having somewhat been down this road before (i.e. DoD some years ago), we still had a good turnout and the weather actually cleared up some before the end of the tournament. Now albeit, this storm is coming much closer to the Jersey shore and will be packing a bit stronger winds.
I will continue to follow the weather and the storms track...so check back regularly. In either case, I would highly recommend your batteries (even spare batteries) are charged fully, your bilge pump is work efficiently, You have a good heavy anchor; your life jacek\PFD is onboard, and last but not least, you have your RAIN Gear with you.
Unlike DoD, there are not too many places at Assunpink where one can hide from the wind. When I say careful thought and consideration is taken into every tournament we fish, I sincerely mean that.
The idea of a shortened time period of the tournament is also an option. That only means anglers have to catch there fish early and say be prepared for say a 12pm weigh in. This is just an idea. Switching to a different lake is off the table as Assunpink presents one of the best opportunties to catch (3) 15" Min. Bass and not too mention closing the distance on AOY and Rookie AOY categories, and Lunker of Year.

Yeah...there could be trailer bans place on the NJ Turnpike and Rt. 295. We'll play it by ear.

Like you said play it by ear, a thought that maybe we keep the original start time fish until 12:00 noon and if the skies still look good we can extend it to 1:00. BN you would just have to blow your air horn one that works, and that would be the signal to everyone that weight-in is at 1:00. Just a thought.

Good luck Guys! I'm out of this one. I have to prepare my house for the incoming storm! Be careful on your way home... There closing a bunch of roads all up and down the state! rts 55, 47, 70, 72,and the AC expressway! Even the Garden state Parkway is closed!!!

8pm Saturday night, did you guys fish? I had to put all my outside furniture in storage and pack up just about eveything outside. Wish I could have made it. |
