Greetings everyone,
Had some time and went down to Lake Lenape today to renew my registration and this is what I found.
Low water conditions and some bare shoreline.....

Generally this time of year, they lower the water levels for maintance to the dam. Hopefully things will be ok by our 2nd tournament of the season.
Note: For those that take Weymouth Rd. From Rt. 322,, that road is closed due to the bridge/overpass being out. One must use the detour for Rt.50 South to travel to Lake Lenape.
Guys....should take care of re-registering there boats before this years tournament. One should not wait till the morning og the Tournament as that could delay there launching.
Its still only $5.00.

I don't believe it makes it less than 2ft. The area out from the boat ramp is pretty deep in a sense...between 6'~9' deep.
Running up towards the northern end maybe a different story. One would have to navigate and possibly troll up towards those farther areas.
No matter how you slice it, fishing earlier during the season, anglers run into situations like this. I'm hoping they gradually raise the water level before our end of the month March tournament.
The lower water level could be a good thing. It tends to concentrate fish in a certain area vs. having a large water area to which to roam.

i never said its a bad thing the water being low. but after the lighthouse up to the creek entrance, there is a channel about 20ft wide that will be about 6-10ft deep. every where other than the channel will be less than 2ft because when the lake is at full pool, that whole area is only about 4ft. and your right BN, it does concentrate the fish there.

Happen to come across this
LAKE LENAPE DAM RENOVATION
PROGRESS UPDATES
(2/6/2012)
The work on our Dam Renovation is currently on-schedule with the most recent revised project
schedule. The majority of activity has been completed on the right side of the dam and a new concrete
cap has been poured. Work will soon begin on the COFFERDAM in preparation for the installation of our
new LOW LEVEL SLUICE GATE. Delivery of our new gate is expected in mid-April. Our engineers and
construction supervisor are confident that Lake Lenape will be at full level by Memorial Day.
Periodic progress reports will continue to be posted on our Web Site as work on this project continues.

Yes...great find and update Bob!!! Thanks!!
So,, I guess in preparation for some possible low water conditions, anglers will need to take this into consideration when running there outboard motors. Since Kyle and others may know the channels much better than myself (i.e. Pass the lighthouse area), extreme caution should be use when navigating up towards the Northern lake area.
Remember....those that plan on running there higher than 9.9hp outboard motors will need to reserve 1 of the 8 spots for being able to use it on that given day. Guys...don't wait till the last minute to call the office and either speak to Greg or the other guy in the office. They've already been informed that South Jersey Hook This will be having our Club Tournament there on that given day. This maybe a good opportunity to maybe pair up and fish with a fellow SJHT member.
Just an idea....

Registered today. The guy at the office said they did not know when the damn would be done. I launched from the sand. It was touch cause it drops off on a funky angle. Tried loading from the ramp, but my trailer tires fell off the end of the ramp and got stuck. Took my non boater lifting the end of the trailer with a rope from the bow of the boat while I drove the trailer forward to get out. Ended up loading from the sand, but that angle made it tough. Be sure to have 4wd if anyones thinking about trying. |
