Welcome to our SJHT 2023 Season where we began Union Lake... like we ended our 2022 Bass Classic. Chilly, raining, and windy! What can one say?
Welcome to our Opening Regular Season Event#1 at the Union LAKE.
What can one say? Union Lake is who we thought she was! A decent fishery with plenty of different species of fish and the occasional Tri-fecta. There were plenty of fish caught today. Unfortunately the Big Girls have not move up yet. Give it another 2 weeks.
Let's get to it!
Today, 11 of SJHT finest came out to battle and compete for that first win of the season. Met with spitting rain, a slight breeze and air temps in the upper 40's, anglers were determined to get on some fish.
Without further adieu, please give a big congrats to Jackson *The Assassin* Fu on winning 1st and Lunker by weighing in a Bag of 3 Bass going 7.31lbs. Fu's Lunker went 2.59lbs. 2nd Place was won by David *Show me Love* Snedeker with 3 bass going 5.54lbs.3rd Place was won by 2022 AOY and Classic Champ Brian *Some body always in my spot* McCulley with 3 Bass going 4.67lbs. Misc. was by newcomer Eric C. with 1 Pickeral going a decent 3.80lbs.
UNION LAKE TALE OF TAPE:
Jackson Fu's 1st Place Bag of 3 Bass at 7.31bs and 2.59lb Lunker:
Summary: People always ask...do we fish in inclement weather. The simple answer is yes....within safety. Union Lake is always a crap shoot. Sometimes you get good weather. Sometimes not. Sometimes there biting good. Sometimes there not. Heck someone always figures them out is the bottom line. Anglers reported limiting out within 30 minutes into the tournament. The bass were very active. Unfortunately many were sub the 12" minimal limit. Anglers reported catching fish even when the weather turned even more worse. Congrats to all the members that came out today. Great to see familiar faces and shoot the s**t.
So Union Lake presented anglers with various cookie cutter size Bass and some that were close in weight when trying to cull out the bigger Bass.
In All, 7 out of 11 SJHT Anglers caught at least 1 Bass. There were only 16 Bass caught overall. Union Lake gave way to total of 27.96lbs caught overall. The avg. weight was 1.75lbs
Overall.... only 4 Anglers caught there 3 Bass Limit. While the remaining anglers did there very best to put at least 1 bass in the Live well.
Congrats to Jackson Fu, David Snedeker, Brian McCulley, and Eric Carocci on your performances.
Next up is MALAGA Lake next Week.
