Another year older....another year wiser and appreciating every bit of it. First off, Thanks to all for the fabulous birthday wishes! Today was a day filled with gratitude, participating in something I hold dear to heart, and being amongst my guys.
My morning started out quite interestingly. With a Full gas tank, 2 new bigger/stronger/heavier Walmart size 29 Series batteries, and the anticipating of getting to my spot, we launched a bit early and upon getting up on plane, my outboard boggs down and the RPM's raced higher than normal. Immediate thoughts of a spun propeller. Alright. Put it back in Neutral...start it back up and once again upon getting up on plane, the engine dies\shuts down. I'm like alright...lets get to my spot and wait till the sun rises a little higher to deal with this.
In the meantime, I'm catching them good left and right.
All good keepers.....
I'm like on cloud 9....
So now comes the issue with finding out what's going on with my outboard prop.
Good thing I carry my prop wrench and a Block of wood in my emergency kit.
Only thing I could surmise maybe there was too much Marine grease on the shaft or the prop hub assembly. I remove some grease and proceeded to tighten a little more securely. Long story, upon getting back out to the main channel, I started the Mercury OptiMax 90HP outboard up and was Gone.. Gone... Gone!!!! LOL!!! Back In Business or a sign from God of the day I was going to have.
Moving onward.... I'm like do you leave fish to find bigger and better fish?
Decisions...Decisions...Hmmm?
So on Saturday, SJHT had 10 Anglers come out to do battle with the always interesting Conowingo Res. We would have 12 anglers but due to Mechanical Car failures, a member broke down in route to this event. Hopefully that fuel pump situation is worked out Dan and Matt.
For most, the bite was tough with many sub par 12" Bass being caught. Some anglers struggled to get even a bite. Water temps seemed ideal. The current flow was Conowingo typical. However the number of anglers in there favorite community holes seemed like check out line at a Walmart. LOL!!! Although I floated around a little today, I caught concentrated on areas of water movement and even got bit quite a distance away from those areas.
Without further adieu, please give a big congrats and shout outs to Rashawn *BN06* L. for 1st place and Lunker with 3 Bass going 5.38lbs. My lunker went 2.26lbs.Brian *SubFish* M. took 2nd Place with 3 Bass going 4.19lbs. 3rd Place was won by Rob *Ram1212* M. with 3 Bass going 3.23lbs.

What a great day!
Summary: CONOWING RES. once again showed some of the fun and fickleness of fishing out of state.
I pretty had my limit by 8am. 2 Keepers by 6:50am and a couple of dinks mixed in before my early limit. As the day went on...for me and moving around, the bites did get fewer. The quality Bass were all caught early. The tale of the Tape shows nothing humongous. but a 2.26lb Smallie is still not bad.
In All, 7 out of 10 SJHT Anglers caught at least 1 Bass. There were a total of 14 Bass caught overall. These Bass gave way to a total of 21.39lbs caught overall. The avg. weight came out to be 1.53lbs.3 Anglers caught at least there 3 Bass Limit.
Way to fish tough SJHT anglers and allowing me to get my 1st victory of the year. LOL!!!
Brian and Rob congrats and nice Misc.
Next up is [b] DELAWARE RIVER out of Gloucester City, NJ next week.
BN!!! Way to break down on the winning fish lol. My day ended before it began, fuel pump decided 19 years was long enough. Sorry Matt. Had it back on the road by noon and was booze cruising the mullica by 2 Shoutout to bartender friends that dont get home till 5am. Congrats to the rest of the fish catchers
PS probably worth it to pick up a new hub kit for the motor. Most likely its the typical "flo-torque" hubs that are plastic. theyre about 50$. Once they spin once theyre basically done. Might be good cheap insurance before heading out on the delaware.

Thanks Man! Sorry to hear about the break down in route to our event. I did see that you caught some fishing Nockamixon. Good Stuff!!
You're right. Getting an extra\spare Flo-Torque Hub is a smart insurance policy to have. Someone mentioned possibly wood getting caught between the prop and skeg. I tell you with the extra battery weight and a full gas tank and not to mention my girth...lol. It took longer than normal getting up on plane. After the minor fix.....it ran better but def. something to watch.
