Can you say, "I Huff and I Puff....Till I blow your house Down"? That's what it felt like as 14 of SJHT bravest came out to do battle with the Always Good "LUMS POND" of Bear, DE.
So to be perfectly honest....was there thoughts on Postponing this event due to Very Strong Winds? YES. However because permitting and scheduling is always a challenge, these were NOT Tidal Waters, and Anglers as a whole were willing to come out and get some, the show went on and Went on it did!
As we launched and boaters headed to there initial spots, it was quite obvious, anglers wanted to get out of the wind as much as possible and preserve there batteries.
Reminiscent of scenes from the "Deadlist Catch", one member was taking water over the bow and got soaked. Seeking shelter in the more protected coves and foot bridges. Others..... well headed directly in the face of these winds.
Alright...without further adieu, lets give a big congrats to Brian "SubFish" M. for taking 1st place and lunker with 3 Bass going 8.42lbs. Brian's Lunker went 3.66lbs. 2nd Place was won by Mick J. with 3 Bass going 7.17lbs. 3rd Place was won by Mike White with 3 Bass going 6.95lbs. Miscellaneous was won by Matt R. with a 1.46lb Crappie.
1st Bass of the year was caught by Janeen L. wife of Bill "The Hammer" Leach. Congrats to you guys and gals.

Summary: So as one can see, everyone that fished caught at least 1 Bass. In All, 14 SJHT Anglers caught 32 Bass. Giving way to a total of 72.88lbs caught overall. 8 out of 14 Anglers caught there 3 Bass Limits. 3 Anglers caught at least 2 Bass. While the other caught at least 1 Bass. The avg. weight came out to be 2.28lbs. Anglers caught there bass on a wide spectrum of lures. Slow rolling Traps and crankbaits. Some sticking to Beavers and working them slowly in the shallow to deeper drop offs. In spite of the wind, today was another learning lesson. Although we maybe a little uncomfortable with the weather conditions, the Bass can and will at times turn onto them even during the SPAWN. Water temps proved to be ideal and I can only expect things to get even better in the weeks to come. Most of the Lunker size bass were in the 3lb range with some a little more. This fishery is great as there were some sub 12" Bass caught and will only continue to grow in size.
Great job SJHT anglers and congrats to everybody as everybody weighed in.
Hope to see you guys down on the Flats out of Anchor Marine in 1.5 weeks.
Tightlines,
BN06
