Good morning members,
Here's a real quick synopsis and report of Chris Smiths and Eric Boehm presentation given this past Saturday up at the Batsto visitor center located up near Wharton State Park in Burlington, NJ.
The WMA reporting of lakes continue to be strong and important in providing fisheries document catches per unit (CPU) as it relates to time frames fished and # of anglers on a specfic body of water.
The skillful angler award and how its presently documented is being reviewed. The forum was looking for input/suggestions of bettering the submission percentage. Thus allowing more opportunities or pool of potential applicants to submit there epic catch, picture, scale weight, and any other identifying characteristics in making it official.
Porta-O-Pottys at Salem Canal should be in place shortly if not already there.
There was a brief discussion/side bar on the potential new project for Assunpink Lake. Basically a local fish club and stakeholders who utilize the lake requested some type of dredging of the Northern portions as silt and mudd has made that stretch of water almost un-fishable. Installing more structure or habitat to attract finger lings and survival rates were also brought up. After a brief cost estimation and projection, it was mentioned that grants and other general funds would be needed to complete not just the feasability study but to actually do the work was not necessarily in line with the bureaus budget and list of mandatory projects.
This topic was apparently tabled for another day/meeting of the Assunpink group.
There's been alot of talk regarding having Snake head tournaments sponsored by the state at those locals where snake heads are known to be. Other states have somewhat began these types of events and since they're not indigenous of our region, the thought process to help erradicate these species were brought up by a guy in the audience.
In the below threads, ill upload some of the presentation slides presented by Mr. Eric Boehm and moderated by Chris Smit.
Thats all for now unless I've missed something. Lol!
